Heart-Centered,
Science-Backed.

Change-Oriented Couples Therapy.

In Pennsylvania and via telehealth in Massachusetts.

Every relationship has peaks and valleys.

It is normal to experience disappointments and disconnection in our closest relationships.

How we understand and learn to cope with these relationship growing pains is what matters.

If you are feeling angry, resentful, powerless, afraid (of losing your partner or that you made the wrong choice), lonely or isolated,
you are not alone.

We all experience these feelings, especially in relationships that span multiple years.

We can grow resilient in our relationships and in ourselves.

You can find comfort and strength in your relationship–even if you’ve faced hardships or trauma. And I know it’s possible because I see my clients do it every day.

Welcome

Hi, I’m Dr. Shiri Cohen

Shiri Cohen, PhD, black and white headshot

I’m a clinical psychologist who specializes in relationships and couples therapy.

I see my role as a relationship guide who helps you on your path. I shed light on the places that can feel dark or murky to walk through together as a couple so that the path feels clear and steady. Using my background as a relationship researcher and extensive experience working with hundreds of couples, I have the tools to help with even the most challenging issues you may be facing.

What I Do

I am certified in an evidence-based couples therapy called Emotionally Focused Therapy, or EFT.

This approach is where science and human experience merge. It leverages cutting-edge research on human attachment and neurobiology within a step-by-step framework to help you reconnect so that you and your relationship can thrive.

My Specialties

Though I work with clients of all backgrounds, I offer special insight to couples with high-stress lifestyles due to military or government service or professions that cause couples to be physically apart for long or recurrent periods of time.

I help couples with issues such as…

  • Coping with distance when your partner is deploying or traveling for long/frequent periods of time

  • Adjusting to frequent moves

  • Healing from work-related traumatic events (for example military, police, government office, first responders, ER medical providers)

  • Repairing after affairs or other significant relationship threats
